Muzikanten reageren ontzet op brexit: ‘Democratie liet ons in de steek’

Verschillende artiesten, waaronder Damon Albarn, Johnny Marr en de Oasis-broertjes Gallagher, reageren vol onbegrip op de uitslag van het Britse referendum. Johnny Marr: ‘Voor eens ben ik blij om in de minderheid te zijn.’

Damon Albarn, het brein achter onder meer Blur en Gorillaz, verklaarde vanochtend, tijdens zijn optreden op Glastonbury, aangedaan te zijn door de uitslag: ‘De democratie liet ons in de steek, want we waren slecht ingelicht. Maar we kunnen die beslissing nog steeds omkeren.’ Zijn speech werd op applaus ontvangen.

Ook Johnny Marr, de gitarist van wijlen The Smiths, is ontevreden over de ontwikkelingen. Eerst tweette hij dat hij nooit eerder zo gelukkig is geweest om in de minderheid te zijn, waarna hij opriep tot eenheid.

De Brexit lijkt zelfs Noel en Liam Gallagher samen te brengen. Eerder noemde Noel de Britse bevolking incapabel tot het maken van zo’n belangrijke beslissing. In zijn woorden: ‘99% of the people are thick as pig shit.’ Vandaag deelde hij een zwarte EU-vlag. Ondertussen tweette Liam dat hij geen deel van deze wereld wil uitmaken.
