Speciaal voor de vijftigste verjaardag van James Bond brengt Capitol/EMI op 9 oktober de digitaal geremasterde soundtrack ‘Best of Bond… James Bond’ opnieuw uit.
Telkens wordt bij het verschijnen van een nieuwe Bondfilm uitgekeken naar het bijhorend themanummer en de uitvoerder ervan. Veel van thema’s zijn ook hits geworden en zijn voor eeuwig verbonden met James Bond, zoals Goldfinger van Shirley Bassey en meer recent Another Way To Die van Jack White en Alicia Keys.
Voor de 23ste Bondfilm Skyfall heeft Adele het themanummer ingezongen. Het nummer kwam vrijdag, om zeven over middernacht, online, exact 50 jaar na de première van de eerste Bondfilm Dr. No. Het staat niet op het verzamelalbum.
Op ‘Best of Bond… James Bond’ bundelt alle 22 themanummers, Dr. No tot Quantum of Solace, plus het legendarische 007-thema, gecomponeerd door John Barry. Ook Louis Armstrongs liefdesthema uit 1969, On Her Majesty’s Secret Service, staat erop. Er is nog een deluxe-versie beschikbaar, 50 Years – 50 Tracks, met daarbij een extra cd met nog meer Bondnummers zoals Moby’s versie van het James Bond-thema en opnames van het John Barry Orchestra.
