Birdman en The Grand Budapest Hotel halen de meeste Oscarnominaties binnen

Welke film schrijft op 22 februari Hollywoodgeschiedenis als Oscarwinnaar? En welke acteur, actrice of regisseur keert apetrots met een beeldje huiswaarts? Een overzicht van alle genomineerden.

De Oscarnominaties werden voor het eerst door een kwartet bekend gemaakt. In het Samuel Goldwyn Theatre in Beverly Hills onthulde Academy-voorzitster Cheryl Boone Isaacs samen met regisseurs Alfonso Cuarón en J. J. Abrams en acteur Chris Pine de genomineerden uit de 24 categorieën.

Grote Kleppers

Van die lijst namen Birdman en The Grand Budapest er het meest voor hun rekening. De films ontvingen ieder 9 nominaties. Beide films werden ook genomineerd voor Beste Film, net als torenhoog favoriet Boyhood, The Imitation Game, The Theory of Everything, Selma, American Sniper en Whiplash.

Richard Linklater, regisseur van Boyhood, moet het in zijn sectie afleggen tegen Alejandro González Iñárritu, het Mexicaanse brein achter Birdman. Ook Morten Tyldum (The Imitation Game), Bennett Miller (Foxcatcher) en Wes Anderson (The Grand Budapest Hotel) mengen zich in de strijd.

Beste acteurs en actrices

In de categorie Beste Acteur kruist Golden Globe-winnaar Eddie Redmayne (The Theory of Everything) de degens met zijn landgenoot Benedict Cumberbatch (The Imitation Game), careerswitcher Steve Carell (Foxcatcher), Michael Keaton (Birdman) en bradley Cooper (American Sniper).

Na nominaties voor Boogie Nights (1997), The End of the Affair (1999), Far From Heaven (2002) en The Hours (2002) staat de wijn intussen al meer dan vijftien jaar koud ten huize Moore. Haar rol in Still Alice levert Julianne Moore een vijfde nominatie op, waarmee ze op 22 februari de flessen mogelijk dan toch mag ontkurken. Daarvoor moet ze in de categorie Beste Actrice eerst afrekenen met Marion Cotillard (Deux Jours, Une Nuit), Felicity Jones (The Theory of Everything), Rosamund Pike (Gone Girl) en Reese Witherspoon (Wild).

Geen Belgische nominatie

In de categorie Beste Kortfilm greep onze landgenoot Sahim Omar Kalifa naast een nominatie. Zijn kortfilm Baghdad Messi, over een eenbenig kind met een voetbaldroom, won de afgelopen maanden tal van internationale prijzen, maar werd door de Academy niet in de nominatielijst opgenomen.
