De MTV Movie Awards werden voor de 25e keer uitgereikt in Los Angeles onder het toeziend oog van gastheren Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson en Kevin Hart. Deadpool en Pitch Perfect 2 werden ook elk met twee popcornbekers bekroond.
